Caroline Henricksen

Caroline has always been interested in drawing and painting. At university she studied graphic design and illustration, specialising in scientific illustration. With a particular passion for botanical and zoological painting in watercolour. Caroline is drawn by the intricate detail revealed by the magnifying glass when looking at the flora and fauna of her local area near Cambridge.
She has over the years worked for The Cambridge University Botanical Garden, The Hunterian Museum and Cambridge University Zoology Museum as a freelance illustrator and has also ran art classes for children.

Her recent artwork has been brought about after a friend purchased a Victorian safe which contained large amount of unwanted handwritten old wills and deeds from the 1800’s, inspired by these pieces of history Caroline took these to use in her work, painting them, then painstakingly cutting out shapes so make up beautifully delicate collages of flowers.
